Biography:

Laura Malone is the owner and managing attorney of Malone Legal PLLC, where she focuses her practice exclusively on family law. A seasoned litigator, Laura has spent the majority of her legal career in the courtroom and brings extensive trial and motions experience to her representation of clients facing divorce, child custody disputes, and other complex family law matters.

Laura began her legal career as a public defender in Island County before becoming a criminal prosecutor. As a prosecutor, she tried cases, argued motions, made charging decisions, drafted search warrants, trained law enforcement, and appeared in court on a near-daily basis. That experience gave Laura an early foundation in trial advocacy and taught her how to evaluate evidence, anticipate opposing arguments, and make difficult strategic decisions under pressure.

In 2019, Laura transitioned to family law and quickly found that her litigation background was particularly well suited to the practice. Before founding Malone Legal, she practiced with established family law firms, gaining experience in cases involving complex parenting disputes, financial issues, domestic violence allegations, and high-conflict litigation. Since then, Laura has continued to regularly appear before judges and commissioners throughout the Puget Sound region and has represented clients through motions practice, negotiation, mediation, and trial.

Laura believes that effective family law representation requires more than aggressive advocacy. It requires understanding which issues are worth fighting over, which can be resolved, and how the decisions made during litigation may affect a client and their family long after the case is over. She approaches each case individually, providing clients with straightforward advice about their options, the strengths and weaknesses of their position, and the practical consequences of different strategies.

Clients can expect Laura to be candid, prepared, and accessible. She limits her caseload so that she can remain personally involved in her cases and provide each client with individualized attention. When settlement is possible, Laura works toward practical resolutions that protect her clients' interests. When litigation is necessary, her extensive courtroom background allows her to advocate confidently and effectively.

Originally born in Ireland and raised in the Seattle area, Laura considers the Pacific Northwest home. She earned bachelor's degrees in Political Science and Philosophy from Gonzaga University and her Juris Doctor from Seattle University School of Law.
